EatinEatOut : Fall 2013
WWW.EATINEATOUT.CA 91 KYo BAr JAPonAIS 711, côte de la Place d’Armes Montréal, Qc 514.282.2711 Kyo Bar Japonais Montreal was a great choice. Crispy without being over fried, the wasabi mayonnaise was a delicious combination, and definitely one of our favourite appetizers. The grilled beef tongue was formidable, cooked perfectly and served with a juicy Korean sauce. Next came our order of nigiri and caviar. The red tuna was fresh and perfect at room temperature. We loved the sweet jumbo shrimp nigiri and wanted more. Last we had the salmon caviar, which we thought was too strong and not particularly our taste. The maki arrived at the end. We ordered the more common kamikaze rolls of salmon, tempura, avocado with spicy mayo and masago. Fresh and delicious! We also tried the more unique Kyo maki that was a combination of caramelized onions, tempura, cheese, avocado, spicy mayo and beef sashimi. The cheese was a touch overpowering but the maki itself was delicious and original, as we had never tried beef sashimi in maki. All in all, Kyo Bar Japonais makes for a fabulous night out with good food and ambiance, all in a stellar location.
