EatinEatOut : Summer 2013
86 WWW.EATINEATOUT.CA my favorite places to eat. For a true Italian meal don't miss Domenica's located at the Roosevelt Hotel. Here renowned local chef John Besh and Alon Shaya (my former landlord) cook up some of the best Italian dishes in town. For Franco-German cuisine head to Luke, another of John Besh's deli- cious restaurants, where you can have fresh oysters or my favorite, the luke burger and fries. Walking further you will cross over into the center of the Central Business District where restaurants such as the Herbsaint will deliver some of the best French food offered in the South. Sitting outside you can drink your wine and watch the Saint Charles trolley go on by. For dinner keep walking on Saint Charles until you cross over to the Warehouse Dis- trict. In this new and trendy part of town, old warehouses have turned into stylish lofts and restaurants (it is Nola's own version of the Meatpacking district in New York City). If you love pork you will love Cochon. As the name suggests many dishes on the menu are Southern-inspired pork plates. But if you don't eat pork no need to worry as there are many other great options. The ambiance is trendy and you may even rub shoulders with some Hollywood actors on any night of the week. If pork is not so much your thing but you love a good steak then the Argentinian Steak- house, La Boca will satisfy all your red meat carnivorous cravings. A small Argentinian steak house offering tender beef, chimichuri and fries. Reservations are a must. Root is another popular restaurant which offers some of those hearty Southern flavors with a modern and trendy twist.
