Brush each slice of prosciutto lightly with maple syrup and sprinkle with chili flakes, if desired. Wrap each date tightly with the prepared slices of prosciutto and place on the parchment-lined baking sheet, seam-side down. 3. Bake in the preheated oven for 10-12 minutes, or until prosciutto is crispy. Arrange on a serving platter and serve immediately. Makes 24 peices. 24 pitted dates 12 thin slices of prosciutto, halved lengthwise 2 Tbsp pure maple syrup 1/2 tsp chili flakes (optional) Spiced Prosciutto Wrapped Dates These sweet and spicy little morsels have a ton of flavour and a nice kick to boot. Prosciutto, a cured, thinly sliced variety of ham, gives a somewhat similar taste to bacon, but is a little less fatty and doesn’t require the cooking time that bacon does. The chili flakes are optional, so if you’re worried about some of your guests not being fans of the heat, omit the flakes entirely or make a batch of half and half. To make serving easier, insert a cocktail pick into each date before serving, or set a pair of small tongs next to the dish.
