Enjoy with a generous topping of berries or other fruit. Chai mix Package the chai mix in small sachets made from cheesecloth. Cut 8-inch squares of cheesecloth. Place 2 Tbsp of black loose leaf tea, 2 cloves, 2 cardamom pods, 1-inch stick of cinnamon in the middle of the square. Form a sachet buy gathering up the corners, and tying with kitchen twine. HOW TO ENJOY: Steep one sachet in a cup of boiling water. Steep for 5 minutes. Drink as is, or sweeten and add a splash of milk. Sit back and dream of an exotic destination. Think Outside the Jar Festive fruit basket -- A colourful fruit bas- ket is a great way to balance out deca- dent holiday food. Arrange curvaceous pears, bright red pomegranates, and juicy clementines in a basket. Tuck in a few sprigs of evergreen and complete the look with a chic ribbon. Lentil soup mix Hearty and nourishing, this soup mix will be a big hit on a wintery day. Brown or wild rice works just as well in this recipe as pot barley (Note: pot barley, not pearl barley, is a whole grain). LAYER IN A JAR: 1/2 cup green lentils, 1/4 cup red lentils, 1/4 cup pot barley, 1 tsp oregano, 1 tsp basil, 1 bay leaf. HOW TO ENJOY: • Sauté one large diced onion in 1 Tbsp olive oil. • Add 4 cloves of garlic (minced), 2 each carrots and celery stalks (thinly sliced). • Add soup mix, one carton of no salt added chicken/vegetable broth, 2 cups of water, salt and pepper to taste. • Bring to a boil, cover and simmer approx. 30 minutes until lentils and barley are tender. • Discard bay leaf. Squeeze 1/2 lemon for a burst of flavour. Whole grain pancake mix IN A JAR: 3/4 cup quick-cooking oats, 3/4 cup whole grain whole wheat flour, 2 tsp baking powder, 1 Tbsp sugar, 1/2 tsp cinnamon HOW TO ENJOY: In a bowl, whisk together 2 cups milk, 1 egg, and 1 Tbsp melted butter. Soak dry mix with wet ingredients mixture for 10 minutes.
